OWNER HANDLING ASSOCIATIONS

POTENTIAL GSAOHA MEMBERS BEWARE!!!!

There is only 1 (one) NATIONAL OWNER HANDLER ASSOCIATION, located in New York with several approved charter clubs around the United States. Membership at a local level entitles you to National membership as well by way of dues collected and paid to National by your local chapter.

Here in San Antonio TX the only National recognized OHA club is TEJAS OHA - comprised of most of the former members of the GSAOHA club. GSAOHA stands for Greater San Antonio Owner Handler Association. Once upon a time this was a fabulous organization that served the dog show and exhibitor community well for over 30+ years.

GSAOHA no longer holds a charter under OHA national - the 06&07 President, Karen Minson, has taken the charter - voided it, did not pay forward any members dues which voids their national memberships and refused to permit nominations for new officers - keeping governance for herself. This kept her in office and in a position to interfer with anyone who challenged this breach of process - that primarily would be me as one of the few remaining members of GSAOHA that did not resign during this outrageous display of arrogance on the part of Karen Minson. Given her status of expired term limitation in a direct move to steal this organizations assets and potential earning capabilities she composed phoney charges against me and terminated all flow of information to the full membership to prevent any due process on their behalf. When met head on regarding her flagrant disrespect for efforts and sacrifices of those before her she would simply ignored all inquiries. The majority of this club left or resigned during the final months of 2007 with their specific wishes to have all assets turned over to the TEJAS OHA immediately. Ms. Minson ignored this vote and simply took everything herself and with the aide of a few new members (Jackie Green and Nanete Walker) created their own version of club life in 2007 - disrepected all those before them and have the nerve to contiue to operate under the former club name and national logo.

Ms. Minson did try to pay National dues for 2007 in January of 2008 without a roster to account for whoes money was represented and without covering the 8 members that had previously paid GSAOHA dues. National declined her submission. Ms. Minson also holds all financial assets of this organization by way of her partner and Treasurer, Patty Jacobs and all physical assets (thousands in gates, mats, tables). These individuals along with the newly appointed Secretary, Jackie Greene are now trying to present themselves as representatives of this fine national organization by use of its logo - they are NOT. They are rogue - have stolen opportunities from the former members and basically stolen all the assets. If in doubt about any of this simply ask Ms. Minson - why didn't you elect officers - why didn't you follow the majority of the memberships wishes and disband and share the assets as required by the constitution and by-laws? Why are you still President? Are these the kind of folks you want at your table? your setup when your gone? influenceing your juniors? at your side during a crisis?

One thing you should consider when choosing a club to support and join is the level of integrity of its officers and fellow members - as that will be reflected on you in the dog show arena and even your personal life. Does the organization you are considering offer you a chance to grow through education, support and various fundraising opportunities - how about a chance to serve through formal elections - what about a chance to participate in due process and roberts rules of order? Do you know what they are doing with your dues money or the monies raised at special events? Is it fun or is it punitive?

Owner Handling your dog or bitch is purhaps one of the most rewarding things a pure breed canine owner will experience - don't let others ruin it for you - keep it fun - keep it safe - keep it honest and it will keep you smiling and supported for as many years as you choose to participate.

Many of you warned me Ms. Minson had alternative motives for this clubs future and I didn't listen, I didn't believe such deviance or evil really existed - I followed her guidance as Parlimentarian which allianated most of you and caused the split in membership and creation of TEJAS. Still not able to see through her I continued to support her into Presidency after my term expired --

That was great with Ms. Minson until her term was to expire and since I would most certainly speak out against that lack of a nominating committe or formal elections and due process - I had "to go" and that is what Ms. Minson set out to do. I could say only the most shallow and naive would follow but alas I was once at that table - fore warned is fore armed now if you care to listen. Learn from what has transpired here.
